North Bellmore residents joined local veterans organizations on Monday to honor the men and women who have served the country.
North Bellmore American Legion Post No. 1749 and the Vietnam War Veterans Association sponsored the annual Veterans Day ceremony, which was held at the monuments in front Newbridge Road Elementary School. The service began at 11 a.m. on Nov. 11 in honor of the date and time that Allies signed the armistice with Germany to end World War I.
John Pavlica, the legion’s first vice commander, led the ceremony. Local Boy Scout troops also attended.
