The final South Side Middle School assembly

South Side Middle School’s eighth graders participated in a moving up ceremony on June 24 in the school auditorium.

Assistant Principal Rose Cammarata called the outgoing class “a great bunch” that consisted of 302 students. “This class stood out,” she said. “They were a pleasure.”

During the Final Assembly, which started shortly after 1 p.m., Bari Stanger provided the farewell address and was joined by school Superintendent Dr. William Johnson and other school district representatives who conferred diplomas to members of the class.

John O’Shea, a Rockville Centre school board trustee, was invited to speak at the ceremony as well.

School district representatives congratulated the outgoing class, which now comprises the South Side High School class of 2015.
