Alfred Uhry’s Tony Award-winning touching, bittersweet comedy, “The Last Night of Ballyhoo,” can be seen on the Hofstra University stage this month, presented by Hofstra Entertainment, July 16 to Aug. 1.

Uhry, the Pulitzer Prize-winning author of “Driving Miss Daisy,” sets “The Last Night of Ballyhoo” in 1939 Atlanta. The story follows an upper-class Jewish family coping with budding romances, the rumblings of World War II, the premiere of “Gone With the Wind” and, above all, Ballyhoo, the biggest social event of the year.

The production features a number of local actors. Among them, is Molly Bier (pictured at right), who plays Lala Levy. The Rockville Centre resident is a senior at the College of Holy Cross in Worcester, M.A., where she is majoring in theater. Another up-and-coming young actress, Christina Corsaro (pictured at left) can be seen as Sunny Freitag. Corsaro, also from Rockville Centre, is currently studying her craft at HB Studios. Brian Gill (middle) performs the role of Joe Farkas. The production is directed by Pamela

Seiderman.

Show times are 8 p.m. on Fridays (July 16, 23, 30), 8 p.m. on Saturdays (July 17, 24 and 31) and Sundays (July 18, 25 and Aug. 1) at 2 p.m. Tickets are $25, $20 seniors, $18 students; available at (516) 463-6644 or www.hofstra.edu/HofstraEntertainment.
