This Valley Stream hometown artist hosts exhibit at Pagan-Feltcher Restoration

This self-taught artist has made quiet the name for himself as the widely beloved art instructor at the Valley Stream Recreation Department’s Adult Art Class. Residents say Matt Khan helps to discover and embolden their inner artists. At the end of his art classes, he showcases his students’ finished artwork in a collective student exhibition. But earlier this month, Khan was able to exhibit his own artistic work at the Pagan-Fletcher Restoration. The 40-year-old hometown artist titled the exhibit: “Exposition of Texture: The Art of Matt Khan.’’

His artwork was on display for three days and included 12 nature-inspired pieces. Most of the pieces were landscapes that had small references to the culture and location of the space. “I like to create a locale; either by adding animals, the flag, or plants that are unique to the area,” Khan said while explaining his artistic choices.
