Track teams learn that footwear is key to safety

Posted

In what has become an annual tradition, Ellen Copeman, owner of Lynbrook Runner’s Stop, visited Malverne High School to demonstrate the ins and outs of good track shoes to students on the high school and middle school track teams.

Students listened intently as Copeman showed the young athletes the difference between trainer shoes and spikes, and showed them how to fit each type of shoe properly to prevent injury and ensure maximum performance. She also gave out free sports bags and samples of a healthy runner’s snack called Sport Beans.

Middle school coaches Eileen Duffy and David Haimovich, high school coaches Marcelin Franci and Florence Balay, and Director of Athletics Deborah Adams joined students for the demonstration.
