Troiano in the 2nd L.D.

This year’s election in Nassau County’s 2nd Legislative District is an extremely important one. No matter who wins, history will be made because new leadership will begin in the district. After being represented by Democrat Roger Corbin for 14 years, voters now have three community leaders vying to represent them.

There seems to be no doubt that any of the three candidates would be an effective legislator. The Republican, Derek Partee, the People First Party candidate, Pablo Sinclair, and the Democrat, Robert Troiano, are all well-informed about the issues facing the district, and it’s clear that all of them would be vocal leaders in the Legislature. There is no wrong choice in this race.

In these tough economic times, however, we believe that the district should be represented by someone who has years of financial and government experience. Troiano is that candidate and we encourage residents to give him their votes.

As a Town of North Hempstead councilman, Troiano had an impressive list of accomplishments, including attracting more than $80 million in private investment funds to revitalize the New Cassel community. He also helped to advance plans for the development of a $25 million community center in New Cassel, which will provide residents with recreational, educational and social services. Troiano also spent more than 25 years working on Wall Street, and we believe his financial know-how will be an asset to the Legislature.

The 2nd L.D. is one of the most diverse districts in the county, and it is important for the district to be represented by someone who will make sure the minority community's concerns do not fall on deaf ears, and who will be a team player in Mineola. Troiano fits that description. He is a good communicator and a real people person, and we are confident that he will help improve the working relationship between the Legislature and the district.
