Two LBHS musicians earn All-State honors

Long Beach High School seniors Alyssa Blumenthal and Lee Rynecki qualified to perform in the 2009 New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) All-State Winter Conference this week at the Eastman Theatre in Rochester.

This is the second consecutive year that Blumenthal was chosen for this honor. She will be performing in the All-State Wind Ensemble, while Rynecki will take to the stage as a member of the All-State Symphonic Band.

A six-time All-County musician, Alyssa is a member of the high school jazz ensemble, Dixieland Band, pit orchestra and select choir, and a member of the marching band color guard.

In addition to the high school Dixieland Band and pit orchestra, Lee performs with the Long Island Youth Orchestra, and attends special programs at the Manhattan School of Music Pre-College and the Long Island High School for the Performing Arts.
