Two Mepham seniors headed for college ball

Two Mepham High School seniors have signed national letters of intent to play sports in college. Kristen O’Brien, a three-time All-County basketball player, has signed with Adelphi University, and Claudia Law, a two-time All-County softball player, has signed with Fordham University.

O’Brien has started for the Mepham girls’ basketball squad since eighth grade and was selected last year as Conference Player of the Year. She is also the first three-year captain in the Mepham basketball program’s storied history.

Law is a five-year starter for Mepham’s softball team, playing catcher. Last year, she earned All-Long Island and All-State accolades.

Mepham officials say that both O’Brien and Law have excelled in athletics and academics.
