An Elmont neighborhood on the border between Queens and Nassau counties was the site of a gruesome discovery for police Wednesday morning, as two bodies were found in a home on 238th Street south of Linden Boulevard.

According to information from the Nassau County Police Department, a 911 call was placed early Wednesday morning to the home by the victim's uncle, who could not get his family members to answer the door.

Police arrived at 4:30 to find Bob Ormejuste, mortally wounded by an unknown number of gunshots, bleeding to death in his kitchen. Police called for emergency responders and back-up.

As police were arriving, according to Nassau County Detective Lieutenant John Azzati, 24-year-old Dario Ormejuste left the house to smoke a cigarette.

"I am told he exited that residence and decided to smoke a cigarette on the front lawn where he was approached by members of the Bureau of Special Operations and the Emergency Service unit," Azzati said.

After investigating the scene, Jeurby Ormejuste, Dario's brother who worked as a corrections officer at Rikers Island, was found dead in the basement, also allegedly shot multiple times.

Ormejuste was taken into custody at the scene, and after investigating overnight Wednesday, police charged him with two counts of second degree murder in the deaths of his father and brother.

Azzati said that detectives believe that the gun used in the alleged incident may have been the same that Jeurby Ormejuste bought to use in his service as a corrections officer.

Rose Ormejuste, Dario's mother, is still missing, as is the family's 1998 Lexus sedan, license plate CEF1830.

"The mother, Rose ... is now considered a missing person, we are now endeavoring to locate her in several venues," Azzati said. "We're trying to be optimistic that we will the mother ... we're hopeful that we will locate her shortly."

Dudley Munroe, a 64-year-old resident who lives next door to the home where the bodies were found said that nothing seemed odd at the home recently, though he admitted he didn't know his neighbors very well.

"That's a crazy thing," Munroe said. " I don't really know anything about them, I don't know them to talk to them."

He said he had seen the woman police are now seeking last Saturday watering her lawn, but hadn't said anything to her at the time.

If anyone has any information with regard to this incident, they are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS (8477). All calls will be kept confidential.
