Unsound surf shop, which was closed for five months after it was badly damaged during Hurricane Sandy, is celebrating its re-grand opening on Saturday, May 18, with its 4th annual Surf Art Show. The event takes place from 4 to 9 p.m. at Unsound, 359 E. Park Ave.

The event will include ocean and surf-related art on display throughout the shop. Place your bid on a piece of art during a silent auction and help donate to local organizations such as the United Way of Long Island, The Long Beach Christmas Angel and the Tommy Brull Foundation, great organizations that have been helping Long Beach families and businesses get back on their feet in the aftermath of the storm. Sandy was devastating for many, and people still need help. Unsound is hoping to rally the community through its event, and make it the “biggest and best art show to date.”

And create your own art! “Stars of Hope” will provide hundreds of stars for children and adults to paint from 4 to 7 p.m. that will be spread throughout the community by Project 11561 and the Long Beach Surfer’s Association. There will also be a community art project to take place on the outside wall of Unsound, and everyone will be able to contribute.

The event will also feature music by The Midnight Snacks, and Swingbellys will be on hand with its food truck.
