Remembering 9/11

Long Island’s largest 9/11 ceremony will take place at 7:30 a.m. in Point Lookout, and will feature an interactive sunrise memorial to remember the heroes during the attacks and celebrate their legacy. The city of Long Beach will also hold a remembrance gathering at 8 a.m. in the Recreation Center parking lot, and a service will follow at the Virginia Avenue Remembrance Garden at 11 a.m. At 7:30 p.m., the Long Beach Fire Department will hold a ceremony on West Park Avenue at Lafayette Boulevard to pay tribute to the victims and honor the first responders.

20th Annual Michelle O’Neill Volleyball Tournament

On Saturday, Sept. 10 at 8 a.m., the 20th Annual Michelle O’Neill Volleyball Tournament is a fundraiser to benefit children with cancer and special needs. Check in begins at 8 a.m. on Laurelton Boulevard beach. Come play, or just watch the competitive and recreational games. Enjoy music, raffles, food and merchandise!
