Valley Stream Boulevard to close for construction

The much anticipated culvert replacement project will soon begin on Valley Stream Boulevard. The road will be closed beginning next week near the Village Green, and could be shut down for as much as six months.

The culvert, which carries the stream under the road, will be removed and replaced. West Valley Stream Boulevard will be closed between Payan Avenue and Hicks Street. All local traffic from Verona Place and Payan Avenue can only go westbound on West Valley Stream Boulevard. All pedestrian traffic will be re-routed through the Village Green.

In order to prepare for the project, several utilities had to be re-routed including sewer and phone lines. The culvert was built off-site and will be delivered in several pieces and installed.

The project is set to begin on April 6.
