Arrests

  • Gregory Clervoix, 30, of Forest Street in Valley Stream, was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and unlawful possession of marijuana. He was stopped by New York State Police on Feb. 27 at 11:15 p.m. on the Southern State Parkway near Exit 31 for speeding. Troopers say he was doing 86 mph in a 55 mph zone. According to police, the trooper detected a strong odor of marijuana and searched Clervoix’s vehicle, finding one gram of marijuana and a stun gun. Clervois is due to appear in First District Court on March 14.
  • Anthony Thompson, 29, of North Third Street in Harrisburg, Pa., was charged with false impersonation, unlawful possession of marijuana, unlicensed operation and driving an unregistered motor vehicle. He was stopped by New York State Police on March 1 at 10:38 a.m. on the Southern State Parkway near Exit 15 in North Valley Stream for speeding. Troopers say he was doing 76 mph in a 55 mph zone. According to police, Thompson said that he did not have a license, then provided a fake name and birth date to the trooper. A small amount of marijuana was reportedly found during a search of the vehicle.

Shoplifting Turns Into Assault

On March 4 at 7:08 p.m., Nassau County Fifth Precinct police officers responded to Best Buy, 6 W Circle Drive in Valley Stream, for a shoplifting arrest. According to detectives,  Monika Wnorowska, 17, of Neptune Avenue in Brooklyn, resisted arrest by flailing her arms and legs. When she was handcuffed, she kicked one of the arresting officers in the groin area and in his right hand, spraining his thumb, police said. The officer was brought to an area hospital where he was treated and released. Wnorowska is charged with second-degree assault, resisting arrest and petit larceny. She was arraigned on March 5 at First District Court in Hempstead.
