Posted

The Valley Stream Volunteer Fire Department provided onsite support to the Nassau County Police Department with a helicopter landing at Firemen’s Field on June 19. The helicopter was airlifting a 69-year-old man to a nearby hospital after being struck with a Bob excavator while doing construction work at a Malverne home, according to police officials. The Bobcat excavator was operated by a 29-year-old man whose identity was not disclosed. Engine 342 and Engine 341 stood by in case of any emergencies for twenty minutes under the command of Chief of Department Patrick Scanlon. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
