Valley Stream Person of the Year says it’s an honor

To the Editor:

Thank you to the Valley Stream Herald and Andrew Hackmack for bestowing on me the title of Person of the Year for 2010.  It is such an honor to be recognized by my hometown paper with such a well-written and in-depth article. No one was more surprised than I was when I found out that the Herald had named me Person of the Year. It was certainly something that I had never expected but appreciate very much.

This honor should also encompass all the residents who have been helping and working with me to fight the injustice of the new flood maps from FEMA. Andrew Hackmack, editor of the Herald, has been a good friend of all the residents affected by these maps by keeping the story alive in the Herald. We all owe a vote of thanks to the Herald for that.
