Village ready for more roadwork

Phase B of roadway improvement project set to start

Posted

Malverne residents are gearing up for the start of Phase B of the village’s Roadway Improvement project. The part of the project will cover the Foster Brook section of the village, with work set to take place on Ambrose Avenue, Beech Court, Chestnut Street, Harriet Court, Legion Place, Maple Street, Orbach Avenue and Slabey Avenue.

Since this work is set to begin, what should Malverne residents expect from the construction?

In a PowerPoint presentation made at the March 2 Board of Trustees meeting, Alan King, of Cameron Engineering & Associates LLP, the company doing the roadwork, said the Phase B changes will include driveway apron replacement, updated ADA-compliant pedestrian ramps, spot repairs of sidewalks, limited curb replacement, drainage improvements and pavement, milling and overlay work.

Construction is set to begin this month and will take place in steps, starting first with the utility markups. Saw cutting of the pavement was set to begin this week, and the concrete and drainage work was expected to begin the week of March 21. Pavement milling will be started in mid to late Aprril, with asphalt construction beginning in May.

With this plan in place, how will residents be informed of the planned construction?

The company plans to keep residents updated by sending out notifications, both streetwise as well as individually for those residents who will be directly affected by the construction. Residents can reach King by at (516) 224-5264 or (516) 660-9118, or by email at aking@cameronengineering.com. The company asks residents not to discuss matters directly with the contractor.
