Water main break closes Meadowbrook Road

Meadowbrook Road at Babylon Turnpike in Merrick was shut down in both directions following a water main break at about 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As of 8 p.m., the main had not been repaired, and the road –– along with the eastbound M7 exit on the Meadowbrook Parkway –– remained closed.

Aqua New York repair workers were at the site late into the night, hurrying to repair the damage, while New York State Department of Transportation trucks cordoned off the M7 exit. As of press time, there was no word on the cause of the break or when repairs would be complete.
