Waverly Park’s ‘Little Doctors’ host blood drive

Lynbrook elementary students organize giving event

The Student Council at Lynbrook’s Waverly Park School organized their annual Little Doctor’s Blood Drive, with the help of the fifth-grade class. They worked very hard soliciting volunteers and creating flyers to promote the event. On the big day, fifth graders, dressed in hospital scrubs, greeted donors, helped them with paperwork, escorted them to each station, and made sure they were replenished with a healthy snack and a drink before they took their leave. These hardworking students assembled a total of 51 registered donors, collecting 40 pints of blood—a total that adds up to 120 lives saved! Students worked under the direction of faculty advisors Courtney Jacobs and Shari Bowes.
