W.H. salon creates Cinderella moment for teens

“Prom is supposed to be the time in high school that girls feel special and beautiful and we just want each girl to feel that way,” said Deborah DiMeglio, an employee at the Clear Skin and Color Me Beautiful Salon in West Hempstead, which recently partnered with the Long Island Volunteer Center to create the “fairy godmother experience.”

Clear Skin was happy to support the LIVC’s 18th Annual Prom Boutique, a charity that collects prom dresses, makeup and accessories for underprivileged girls. Clear Skin owner Lola Intagliata and LIVC’s Ann Sparati kicked off this year’s collection on Feb. 8 with a party at the Hempstead Turnpike salon, which will take donations through March in an effort to provide as many dresses as possible.

Acceptable donated items include new or gently used formal dresses of all sizes and colors, gloves, wraps and shawls, dress shoes, special-occasion purses, formal jewelry and hair accessories, unopened hosiery, makeup, perfume and hair products.

Clear Skin and Color Me Beautiful has been around for 28 years, has 13 employees and provides a full service of hair, makeup and beauty treatment and analysis.
