Woman killed in Wantagh Parkway crash

A Bethpage woman was killed in a two-car accident in Wantagh last weekend.

According to New York State Police, 35-year-old Eugenio Taveras-Galindo, of Westbury, was driving his Ford F-250 pickup truck southbound on the Wantagh Parkway and attempted to make an illegal U-Turn from the right side of the road. He struck a Jeep Cherokee begin driven by 51-year-old Elisabeth Cutrone, of Bethpage. The accident occurred shortly before 9 p.m. on Aug. 15, just north of the Jones Beach toll booths.

Cutrone was airlifted to Nassau University Medical Center and was pronounced dead a short time later. Her passenger, 42-year-old Douglas Cutrone, was taken to the hospital to be treated for a fractured hip.

Taveras-Galindo and four passengers were also taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries. The investigation is continuing and any witnesses are asked to call State Police investigators at (516) 561-8492.
