Valley Stream Post Office holding food drive

The Valley Stream Post Office has begun its annual spring food drive. Residents can drop off food in a collection bin near the entrance to the post office, located at the corner of Franklin and Hawthorne avenues, through May 16.

Valley Stream scouts help the hungry

Troop 109 Boy Scouts collected 96 bags of groceries and about $900 outside King Kullen for its Easter food drive. The donations were split between the Holy Name of Mary parish outreach center and Grace United Methodist Church.

Valley Stream employees hit the streets last Saturday morning, collecting food for a pair of local outreach centers. Residents were asked to leave donations of non-perishable items in front of their home to help their neighbors in need.
