For the past four years, I have lived in the Gibson section of Valley Stream. About one and a half years ago, I decided to begin a civic association (the Gibson Community Association, www.gibsoncommunity.com). In the beginning, I was unsure about how to meet people in the community who were willing to work to make their community a better place. Just when I was about to call it quits, I noticed a letter published in the Herald announcing a meeting at the Gibson Train station regarding FEMA flood maps. After contacting the woman in charge of organizing the meeting, I decided to attend and share my thoughts.  more

My wife and I are very upset with the announcement that the Valley Stream Waldbaums store will be closing in April. We have shopped in that store for more than 25 years. It has been our favorite store. I want you to know that closing that location is a terrible mistake. more

It has been many years since I moved to Valley Stream. I came, as others did, looking for the suburban dream, good schools for my children, a clean and fresh environment and an opportunity to be free of the problems of urban living. In Valley Stream, we found such a community. more
This is my first political campaign as a candidate, and I am already reflecting on the nature of the experience. Although I have heard in the past that you must be prepared for the twisting of the truth or lies, name-calling and other less than desirable acts of civility, I have come to realize how the thirst for power and recognition and personal ambition can cause normally well-meaning individuals to jeopardize their character and respect for the truth. more
As many residents know, Gov. Andrew Cuomo recently released his 2011-12 New York State Executive Budget in Albany. Within his executive budget, Cuomo has proposed to reduce state school aid in the amount of $2.8 billion. more
