The observance of the anniversary of Sept. 11 is meant to be a reminder of a tragedy of the past. But with all the terrorist activities going on around the world, the 9/11 remembrance is a continuing wake-up call for America in these frightening times.

Patriot Day services will be held in Wantagh and Seaford to honor local residents killed in the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. The Wantagh American Legion Post 1273 will hold its service and ceremony on Saturday, Sept. 6, at 10 a.m., at the Legion’s Post, at 3484 Park Avenue in Wantagh. In Seaford, a candle-lighting ceremony will take place next Thursday, Sept. 11, at 7 p.m., at Seaford High School.
