'Gym Bandit' pleads guilty
Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice announced today that Sean Gluck, a serial purse-snatcher with two prior theft convictions, has pleaded guilty to burglary and grand larceny charges after going on his third crime spree in as many years. Gluck will receive three to six years in prison in exchange for his plea. more

Nassau County Police arrested a Roosevelt man on Dec. 29 for multiple robberies in the area including the recent robbery of the 7-Eleven in West Hempstead. more
At a news conference last week, Lenny Rosado, left, joined by State Sen. Charles Fuschillo Jr., center, and Assemblyman Harvey Weisenberg, warned would-be drunk drivers that "the party's over" with Leandra's Law now in effect. The law was named for Leandra Rosado, Lenny's daughter, who died in an accident with a drunken driver last summer. Under the new statute, anyone who drives drunk with a child in the vehicle can be charged with a felony.

West Hempstead resident Sean Tolliver was arrested on Oct. 22 for workers' compensation fraud after a joint investigation conducted by New York state and Nassau County officials revealed that Tolliver, along with six other residents, stole more than $50,000 collectively in workers' compensation and insurance benefits from the county. more
