Baldwin’s school board voted last week to pierce the New York state tax cap of 3.14 percent in its budget proposal next month. The board will present a spending plan that would increase taxes on the average Baldwin home by 7 percent. A 60 percent “supermajority” of voters will have to approve for the budget to pass. more
