There are eight police precincts in Nassau County. The four that will become Community Policing Centers are the first, fifth, sixth and eighth. The second, third, fourth and seventh precincts will remain as they are. The County hopes this will save some $20 million annually.

Cops: Driver of white van attempts to lure teens

Nassau County Police are warning young people to be on the lookout for a white van after three teens were approached in separate incidents by the driver over the past week in the North Merrick-North Bellmore and East Meadow areas. The teens were asked whether they wanted a ride. The teens ran home and informed their parents, who called police. Authorities said the teens did the right thing by running away and letting police know. more
