In spite of the snowy weather forecast for Saturday morning, there was a steady procession of cars turning into the American Legion Hall for the first Baldwin Winter Farmers Market, produced by G&G Long Island Farmers Market. The parking lot was packed, and some visitors opted to park on neighboring blocks and walk over.

Hofstra University's alumni theater company returns to the stage with Stephen Sondheim's look at contemporary life and relationships. Other weekend higlights include the Gilbert and Sullivan Light Opera Company's annual gala concert and the Riverhead Foundation's winter seal cruises.

There's plenty of action on local stages this weekend. Nassau Community College students perform Eric Bogosian's "Suburbia," while Plaza Theatrical Productions stages it's holiday confection, A Fairy Tale Winter" and Lynbrook pianist Jeffrey Biegel performs a benefit for Sandy victims.

When I was a boy, our family would gather around the television set and watch a fixed routine of shows such as Milton Berle, “The Twilight Zone” and “The Ed Sullivan Show.” One of our other favorites was “To Tell the Truth.”
