Despite scorching temperatures that are projected to continue for the next few days, most people in Baldwin appeared to be keeping their cool today. Of the approximately 60 parents and relatives who clustered in the air-conditioned alcove at Shubert Elementary for the school’s final Moving Up Ceremony, no one reported undue suffering from the heat.

Held in check by Baldwin for much of last Friday’s Long Island Class AA/Southeast Regional final at Farmingdale State, Riverhead saved its biggest push for last, scoring 10 of the game’s final 12 points to grab the title with a 56-50 victory.
