Parents upset over vandalism at Newbridge Elementary School

Vandalism incidents over the summer brought a group of upset parents to the North Bellmore Board of Education meeting last Thursday. Parents of students at Newbridge Road School attended the session because they heard through other parents that needles were recently discovered on the playground. more

The Central High School District will allow community youth groups to continue to use the football fields at Merrick Avenue and Grand Avenue middle schools through Oct. 31. Thereafter, the fields will be off limits to youth groups. The football fields at Calhoun, Kennedy and Mepham high schools will be off limits this fall and beyond. Central District moves to limit field use

At a July 13 public meeting, the Bellmore-Merrick Central Board of Education announced that it would allow only Central District teams to play on its five main football fields, thereby prohibiting youth groups from using the fields for football, soccer, lacrosse and other sports. more

Bellmore approves teachers' contract

The Bellmore Board of Education approved a new four-year teachers’ contract in an unopposed vote at a Jan. 19 meeting. The contract will run through June 30, 2013, and includes salary increases of 2.2 percent over the first two years and 2.25 percent over the last two. more
