Bellmorites had the chance to take a horse and carriage ride around the community to look at holiday lights last Friday. The rides were one of several attractions at the Tree Lighting and Holiday Extravaganza, hosted by the Chamber of Commerce of the Bellmores.

Nassau County Strawberry Festival draws a crowd in North Bellmore

For the past 25 years, the Nassau County Strawberry Festival has drawn crowds of local families to Bellmore for games, fun and, of course, strawberry delicacies. The festival, hosted by the Bellmore Kiwanis and Lions clubs, has grown to attract crowds from across Nassau County, and drew thousands of people last weekend. more

Scalesi, 54, a lifelong Bellmore resident and a Mepham High School graduate, has served his home community as a volunteer since he was young. He is active in the Bellmore Fire Department and the Kiwanis and Lions clubs, and he’s an honorary lifetime member of the North Bellmore Fire Department’s Company No. 2. more

Members of the Merrick Kiwanis Club gathered on Sunday to pack up food and toys for families in need.

A good deed indeed

About 40 members of the Merrick Kiwanis Club, the Calhoun High School Key Club and the Merrick Avenue Middle School Builders Club loaded up vans full of food and toys and distributed the goods among families throughout the Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District last Sunday. Students at elementary schools in the Merrick and North Merrick school districts, along with the MAMS and Calhoun, collected the toys in recent weeks. The Kiwanis Club collected food donations outside of local supermarkets. more
