East Meadow, Clarke high schools make Newsweek's top 500

East Meadow and W.T. Clarke high schools both made Newsweek’s most recent list of the top 500 public high schools in the country, which was posted on the magazine’s website earlier this month. Newsweek has compiled the annual list since 1998. East Meadow is ranked No. 233, and Clarke, 317. They are two of only eight Nassau County high schools that made the list. more

“Hard work pays off,” said Binita Shah, a student at W.T. Clarke High School, who, at 17 years old, has already rocked out with an internationally renowned band and conducted cancer research alongside college students and professors. Her 13-year-old sister, Aashini, can attest to Binita’s statement, as she also shares her sister’s musical exploits, and started research of her own, involving global warming, all before reaching high school. more

K-Kids raise thousands for UNICEF

The Bowling Green K-Kids hosted its 6th annual talent show last Friday at W.T. Clarke High School to benefit the Eliminate Project, UNICEF’s global campaign in partnership with Kiwanis International, which aims to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus worldwide. The group raised a cumulative total of $11,500. more
