Lynbrook High School students Erica and Matthew DeMichiel collected over 120 new children’s books at multiple sites in Lynbrook and East Rockaway on behalf of First Book-Long Island, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing new books to children from low-income households in Nassau and Suffolk Counties. The group’s mission is to instill a love of reading in youngsters who would not otherwise have access to books in their homes.

Mary Denyse Magilligan, a senior at Lynbrook High School has earned a coveted spot as a semifinalist in the Intel Science Talent Search, one of the country’s premier high school science fairs. The school has produced five other Intel Semifinalists over the past 11 years, including 2009 graduate Jing Jian.

Lynbrook staff volleys to raise funds for PTA event

The Lynbrook Council of PTA’s sponsored its annual Staff Volleyball Game and Middle School Kickline performance recently.
Funds raised from the event will go toward scholarship funds for graduatin Lynbrook High School seniors.

Relay For Life, the American Cancer Society fundraiser, is returning to Lynbrook after a one-year hiatus. This year’s event will take place on Saturday, May 22 at the track at South Middle School on Union Avenue.
