During the Franklin Square Public Libary’s board of trustees meeting on Tuesday, March 29, at 7 p.m., Rita Temperino and Bill Youngfert, the incumbent who is running for re-election, addressed the library’s board of trustees and members of the public, about why they should be elected for the soon-to-be-available trustee position. Youngfert discussed the library's recent installment of solar panels and its plans for the spring, among several other recent implementations at the library that he has helped worked on, as a current library trustee. more

For some time, the Franklin Square Public Library has been using florescent lights, turning off computers at night and generally trying to respond to a Long Island Power Authority energy audit, but it has recently gone a step further. Now the library can actually generate energy via solar panels that were installed on the building’s roof in the fall. On Wednesday, Feb. 23, at 2 p.m., the library unveiled its monitoring station, which will allow patrons to see how much energy is being generated by the solar panels in real-time reporting. more
