UPDATE: Residents were startled at the sudden flash of lightning and clap of thunder shortly before 8 p.m. on Tuesday when round two of the today's storm announced itself, bringing with it sleet and wind. Residents woke up to more than a foot of snow. the National Weather Service reports an average of 13.3 inches of snow fell on Long Island. Public school in our area are closed.
