The Fishbin family, of Port Washington, and the Seaman family, of Merrick, have known each other since their sons attended sleepaway summer camp together many years ago. Now they are joining together for the benefit of two organizations that are dear to their hearts: Rock and Wrap it Up! and Music Never Stops: The Tyler Seaman Foundation. On March 27, a concert at City Winery in downtown Manhattan will raise money for both organizations. more

On Saturday, June 22, the Harry Chapin Lakeside Theatre showed Long Islanders some soul. The Blues Traveler, a rock-blues band known for its ’90s hits such as “Run Around” and “Hook,” took the stage, as audience members enjoyed one of the many free concerts that will hit Eisenhower Park this summer. more
The North Merrick Public Library recently jumped, jived and wailed with the help of the Calhoun High School Jazz Band, North Merrick Jazz Band, Merrick Avenue Middle School a cappella group Word of Mouth and the Calhoun-Mepham Chamber Orchestra. These groups performed on June 6 at the Library’s 6th Annual Merricks Make Music Outdoor Summer Concert, a showcase of local student musical talent kicking off the Library’s summer concert series. more
