It was like a scene out of “Back to the Future.”
At around 7:20 p.m. on Jan. 26, as the seventh snowstorm of the winter was kicking into high gear, lightning struck the bell tower of St. Agnes Cathedral, damaging parish equipment and causing an 80-year-old water main under adjacent Clinton Avenue to rupture, which sent bubbles of water up to the icy street.

Q. I'm hoping you can settle a question that has come up between bidding contractors. Two have told me that you don't order cabinets until the framing is done. This will add a six-week delay to the project. Do people order their cabinets off the architect's drawing or wait for the framing to be done?

Q. We’ve been interviewing architects and contractors for a large amount of work to our home. Because of the costs, we plan to have an attorney write the contract, but the architect and the contractor don’t feel comfortable and want their own version. My attorney says to find someone else who will follow the contracts he writes. What do you suggest?
