Molloy has qualified for the East Coast Conference women’s basketball tournament in each of head coach Tim O’Hagan’s seven seasons, but it’s hardly a slam dunk to finish among the top six these days.

The Valley Stream Lions Club hosted its annual flea market last Saturday at the Hendrickson pool parking lot. The event raises money for various Lions Club initiatives including scholarships for graduating high school students, a dance for the visually impaired and donations to local charities.

Few bounces went Molloy’s way on the men’s soccer pitch a year ago, and the result wasn’t pretty. The Lions suffered eight shutouts, lost four times in OT and struggled to a 2-14-1 mark. However, an influx of newcomers and the return of 90 percent of last year’s offense have coach Danny Longo excited to turn the page.

For the past 25 years, the Nassau County Strawberry Festival has drawn crowds of local families to Bellmore for games, fun and, of course, strawberry delicacies. The festival, hosted by the Bellmore Kiwanis and Lions clubs, has grown to attract crowds from across Nassau County, and drew thousands of people last weekend.
