Nassau County police officials believe this person cashed four forged checks, which appeared to be drawn on a Merrick resident’s bank account, in January at a bank in Queens.

Someone cashed four forged checks, which appeared to be drawn on a Merrick resident’s bank account, between Jan. 24 and 26 at a New York Community Bank in Ridgewood, Queens, according to Nassau County police officials. The Merokean lost more than $3,700, authorities said. more

This illegal “skimming” device was attached to a gas pump at the Gulf station at Merrick Avenue and Sunrise Highway, according to the Nassau County Police Department. Typically, such devices electronically steal credit or ATM card information. No cardholders’ accounts were compromised this time, police said.
