A group of students from Lucie B’s Jump N Fun — a Baldwin-based jump-rope studio — will appear on national television on June 17. The girls, along with their instructor, Lucie Bisseruth, top left in photo, are scheduled to appear as (what else?) jump-rope enthusiasts on CBS’s police procedural “NYC 22.” The episode featuring students Desire Ford, Chelcie Crutch, Raven Gray and Genesis Miller is entitled “The Block Party,” and the Jump N Fun crew earned the opportunity to appear when the show’s producers researched local jump-rope talent and invited them for an audition. more
On Tuesday, residents of the Rockville Centre school district will vote on its proposed $97.3 million 2012-13 budget, which is 1.7 percent larger than the current spending plan and keeps the tax levy within the state-mandated cap. The Rockville Centre Board of Education held its annual reorganizational meeting on July 6, and reorganize it did. In one of their first acts, members of the board elected new officers for the 2010-11 school year. Trustee Liz Dion took over from Mark Masin as president, Masin became the board’s secretary and Stephen Kriss will continue as vice president. more
