I have been a resident in Valley Stream for the past 19 years and have been involved in many community events. more

In reviewing the flier being handed out by the Citizens Independence Party, I am a little concerned that the candidates for this party do not understand how things really work. They are laying the blame for their increase in flood insurance on the village administration. more

For the past four years, I have lived in the Gibson section of Valley Stream. About one and a half years ago, I decided to begin a civic association (the Gibson Community Association, www.gibsoncommunity.com). In the beginning, I was unsure about how to meet people in the community who were willing to work to make their community a better place. Just when I was about to call it quits, I noticed a letter published in the Herald announcing a meeting at the Gibson Train station regarding FEMA flood maps. After contacting the woman in charge of organizing the meeting, I decided to attend and share my thoughts.  more

My wife and I are very upset with the announcement that the Valley Stream Waldbaums store will be closing in April. We have shopped in that store for more than 25 years. It has been our favorite store. I want you to know that closing that location is a terrible mistake. more
