The Rev. Randall Broger of the Oceanside Interfaith Council addressed a crowd of about 100 at the organization’s annual 9/11 memorial at Schoolhouse Green last year on Sept. 11. The interfaith council paid tribute to those who died on 9/11 and had Rev. Bonnie Giebfried, a first responder on 9/11, speak to those in attendance about what it was like to be at Ground Zero on that day.
Those who have fallen
Eight years have passed since that dark day in our nation’s history. The observance of September 11 continues to be a time for remembrance, healing and solace, and hope for the future. The Herald hopes this photo page of victims, killed in the terrorists attacks in New York, who had a connection to Oceanside — some were born and grew up in the town, others lived there as adults or served in its fire department — will help memorialize them. more
