On Monday nights, community members and students from Mepham, Calhoun and Kennedy high schools flood Newbridge Arena in Bellmore to watch the undefeated 14-0 Bellmore-Merrick Bulldogs hockey team take the ice. Hewlett girls’ swim team makes a splash
The Hewlett High School girls’ varsity swim team had their best year in almost a decade. This season, the team broke two school records and sent a swimmer to the 2009 State Championships in Rochester last weekend. more

Ally is the first student to exceed 300 total feet, well surpassing the already challenging 200-foot mark at the school.
N. Bellmore student 2nd in NFL contest
At first glance, sweetly smiling sixth-grader Ally Murphy of North Bellmore might seem out of place on a football field. Truth is, she feels quite comfortable there, so much so that she captured second place in the Tri-State NFL Punt, Pass and Kick Championships in the 12-13 year-old division at the Meadowlands Arena recently. more
