In February 2015, Audrey Bussani experienced stomach pains and a change in appetite. Her doctor presumed it was an ulcer, but when she started to get worse he changed his opinion. Her daughter, Michelle Cardinal, said pancreatic cancer was not something any of her family had considered it could be.

The MacArthur girls basketball program hosted the first-ever Kim Klein Memorial Tournament in December. The four-team competition honored the memory of Kim Klein, a Generals supporter and a proud mother. Klein died from breast cancer last year after battling the disease four separate times.
