Judge Christopher Quinn approached the bench at the Nassau County Courthouse on Tuesday afternoon. All rose. “There will be no outbursts,” he told the dozens seated in the packed rows. After a nearly two-week trial to decide whether Rockville Centre Police Officer Anthony Federico criminally assaulted a village resident, Quinn read his verdict, finding Federico not guilty on all counts. more

Trial for Rockville Centre Police Officer Anthony Federico continues Friday
The trial for Rockville Centre Police Officer Anthony Federico continued Friday, as his defense attorney, William Petrillo, spent much of the day cross-examining witness Alyson Gallo, who took a video of the May 2016 incident under question. The proceeding began Wednesday, after the 37-year-old officer was indicted last March on charges of assault against Kevin Kavanagh during a skirmish outside a South Park Avenue bar, as well as later falsifying police records. He pleaded not guilty to the charges. more

Former State Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos and his son, Adam, were found guilty last Friday of all the corruption charges against them, bringing an end to Skelos’s more than 30 years in the Senate and kicking off a race to fill his now-vacant seat.
