The Village of Rockville Centre plays hardball

The Village of Rockville Centre has fired the latest salvo in what is becoming an ongoing war of words between it and the Rockville Centre school district. In a long open letter that the village Board of Trustees sent to the Herald on Monday afternoon, the village stated that if the school district insists on linking the use of school facilities to the restoration of free garbage pickup, the village will be forced to "reassess" the access it provides the schools to village sports fields and facilities. more

After 30 years, with a concerted effort over the last three, the Phillips House Museum on Hempstead Avenue, more formally known as the Museum of the Village of Rockville Centre, has received an absolute charter from the Board of Regents of the University of the State of New York, replacing its provisional charter. more

Nassau County is slated to purchase Grossmann’s Farm in Malverne for $6.5 million. The village will get a 25,561-square-foot parcel of land on Arlington Road in the deal, but village officials said that discussions about the property’s use have not begun.
