for Life began the evening of June 8 with a cancer survivor’s dinner and ended at sunrise the following morning. This year’s proceedings featured music, moving words from cancer survivors and purple sashes, like those seen in this photo of caregivers Matthew Lang and Zach Dane. The event raised nearly $55,000 — far exceeding the $40,500 goal set by organizers. “Considering that Baldwin was devastated by Sandy, raising that much was really something,” said MaryAnn Romano, Baldwin Relay for Life’s co-chair. more

The cancer fighting folks at Relay for Life held their kickoff event earlier this week at BHS. The fourth annual Relay for Life will be held June 9-10 at the Baldwin High School track and will raise money to help beat cancer. more
Last weekend, people from all over Baldwin took part in an event that has become a tradition: the Relay for Life. Spectators gathered at the Senior High School track to cheer on the participants, who, with each lap, were raising funds for the battle against cancer.
