In early June, Calhoun High School senior Erin Zseller will head to the war-ravaged nation of Uganda as part of a two-week volunteer mission sponsored by the non-profit organization Invisible Children.
Zseller was chosen from a pool of 10 Calhoun applicants, and she will be the fourth student from the school to make the trip to Uganda in the past three years.

Students of all ages, parents and educators at Calhoun High School shaved their heads for a cause on March 16.
The school's annual St. Baldrick's Foundation fundraiser brought in more than $30,000 to aid research into childhood cancers. The non-profit St. Baldrick's Foundation provided more than $12 million for research in 2009 alone.
Participants in a St. Baldrick's fundraiser shave their heads in "solidarity with kids fighting cancer" and collect pledges in return for taking it all off.

Over the past four years, Calhoun High School’s Senior Experience program has worked with Invisible Children, a non-profit organization whose mission it is to raise awareness and funds for the forgotten children of northern Uganda who have been displaced and violently indoctrinated into Josef Kony’s Lord’s Resistance Army.
