The 27th annual Five Towns Community Chest Fair began two hours later than scheduled – at 1 p.m. instead of 11 a.m. – due to the expected rain, but the rides started up, the food was served, the games were played and the booths were manned by representatives from several organizations, including Peninsula Counseling Center, the Five Towns Senior Center, Rock Hall Museum, the Five Towns Early Learning Center, Peninsula Hospital Center and the Town of Hempstead. more

The Five Towns Community Chest Fair will delay its opening on Saturday until 1:p.m. due to the weather, officials said. In addition, the movie, "Mary Poppins" that was to be shown on Saturday night is postponed until Saturday, Oct. 15. The viewing time has yet to be determined. more
