A three-day weekend to most students at Hewlett High School is extremely exciting. It’s a chance to catch up on sleep and homework, with extra time to relax. However, for the members of the Youth Board of the Community Chest, it’s more time to volunteer!

Four community-oriented races that have been run separately during the fall will now be tied together in the newly established Southwest Nassau Run Series, which will include the Malverne Run for Education on Oct. 6, the Inwood 5K on Oct. 13, the Five Towns Community Chest 5k Run/Walk on Oct. 20 and the Lynbrook Fly with the Owls 4-mile Run/Walk on Nov. 16.

Inwood-based Five Towns Early Learning Center and Five Towns Community Chest in Woodmere joined together on July 29, as staff and board members of both civic organizations toured the refurbished premises of the Early Learning Center.
