The Stagers and Backstagers of Lynbrook High School breathed new life into a Broadway classic with their musical production of Pippin, the story of Prince Pippin, son of Charlemagne, and his quest to discover magic, meaning and personal significance in his life. The young prince, who struggles to find himself as a warrior, revolutionary, king and lover, finally realizes that like most of us, all he is really searching for is real happiness. more

Saul Lerner, the Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District athletic director, recently resigned his post as coordinator of the Nassau County Boys' Basketball Committee because, he said, the Section VIII Athletic Council rejected a proposal of his to fine-tune the seeding process that ultimately determines teams' playing schedules. In 2006, Lerner was the architect of an ability-grouping system that determined a team's conference by its record. Previously, teams were assigned to conferences without much regard to their records. Rather, officials used what they called the "snake," in which teams were seeded and then laid out on a grid that wound back and forth in serpentine fashion. more

A group of 26 students from Lynbrook High School’s Forensics and Legal Issues classes experienced the local judicial system up close and personal when they paid a visit to the Nassau County District Court. While they were there, they had the opportunity to meet a court officer and a judge who conducted a Q&A session dealing with the court system and jurisprudence, which generated an honest conversation about the realities of the same legal systems that they had been studying in class. more
